Orbis Development Partners is a profit for purpose company which collaborates globally with responsible investors, companies and the not-for-profit sector to create market based solutions for pressing environmental and social challenges. Working with our network of partners we are able to identify, develop and manage high impact social ventures in some of the most disadvantaged regions of the world. Our investor perspective and global reach help to build bridges that connect capital with need.

Where we come from

Have you ever wondered how much more effective we would be at addressing the world’s pressing social and environmental challenges if the private sector was fully engaged in finding and funding solutions to these challenges? We have.

We started out in business because we were convinced of the importance of mobilising private sector capital to address environmental challenges and meet societal needs, especially in least developed countries.

The world is full of responsible companies and investors who are willing to support worthy initiatives. We wanted to put this willing capital in touch with social and environmental need.
We wanted to connect the dots.

Building Social Ventures

We work with investors, entrepreneurs and NGOs to develop social ventures which achieve an underlying social and environmental purpose

and where there is also a profit motive.

Typically these social ventures are built around community based projects that serve the basic needs of challenged communities.

CSR Project Development

As the demands on companies to demonstrate corporate responsibility increase so do the demands on CSR departments to demonstrate that appropriate impacts and value for money are being achieved from the projects and organisations that they support.

We work closely with responsible companies to identify, develop and manage global CSR programmes and offer professional portfolio management that aligns with their corporate objectives.

Portfolio Management

Companies, investors and charities themselves are supporting ever more environmental and social projects. Managing each of the parties involved in these projects can require a considerable resource.

We work with our clients to help them develop and manage portfolios of supported projects, bringing together their disparate projects into a single managed portfolio.

Portfolio management includes everything from identifying appropriate projects and undertaking necessary project analysis and due diligence to ongoing monitoring and detailed reporting and analysis of impacts.

Carbon Finance

Carbon finance is a suitable source of funding for many social and environmental projects.

Orbis is experienced in carbon project development and can help NGOs to scale up their activities and diversify funding streams by taking advantage of carbon finance.

We also work with private investors and companies to engage in social and environmental projects where carbon finance can be used to meet their return or emission reduction targets.

Financing Clean Energy

Clean energy technology plays an important role in securing a healthy environment for future generations.

We design and implement financing structures to engage private sector funding in medium and large scale clean energy and energy efficiency projects.

These projects include decarbonisation programmes at a country scale in small island states and very large scale developments such as the UK Green Deal.

Our value added comes from our strong financing skills and our understanding of capital markets.
